Lightning protection testing: common questions

What is lightning protection testing?

It's the periodic inspection of a building's lightning protection system and measurement of its earth resistance and continuity, to confirm it will carry a strike safely to ground.

Is lightning protection testing a legal requirement?

BS EN 62305 requires periodic inspection and testing, and building insurers commonly make an annual test certificate a condition of cover.

Which areas do you cover?

We inspect sites across the Midlands, the South West, the South East and South Wales, with pages for 103 towns and cities. Larger estates further afield can be quoted on request.

How quickly can you inspect?

Most sites can be booked within two to three weeks. Urgent inspections after an incident or an audit finding can often be arranged sooner.
